Most obscenely, the present Commander in Chief, a narcissistic man-child whose ambition knows no limit, and whose heart perceives no suffering but is own, is using our warriors as props in a contemptuous contest for personal power.
Not since World War II has America fought a war with the singular objective to crush the enemy. The Korean War ended in stalemate after three years of conflict. Communist expansion into South Korea remained in check, but victory over a well-defined enemy was not to be.
The Vietnam War was a military victory won at horrendous costs in life and treasure, but the will to defeat the Communists in North Vietnam was diluted by politicians and activists at home who sympathized with their socialist ideology. The insertion of appeasement politics into the national debate on the war served to weaken our resolve and some would say that Vietnam was a turning point at which America would never again wage war for a concrete, decisive victory. The absence of moral clarity in the national discourse about the war resulted in a more “fair” style of warfare. The rules of engagement were dictated to ensure Americans never killed more of the enemy, civilians or fighters, than they themselves lost.
Operation Desert Storm, the first Gulf War, was a victory forfeited. The job of scouring Iraq free of despotism was left incomplete, and we would return a decade later. And now the longest conflict in our history continues in the Middle East and nobody really understands why, or whether or not politicians at the highest levels care about the lives of the warriors they are sacrificing for an unknown purpose to an unknowable enemy.
Most obscenely, the present Commander in Chief, a narcissistic man-child whose ambitions know no limit, and whose heart perceives no suffering but is own, is using our warriors as props in a contemptuous contest for personal power.
It is no small thing for those sworn to uphold the Constitution and to serve their country, with their blood if necessary, to take a stance in opposition to the Commander in Chief. Only under the most extreme circumstances would such men of honor produce a video exposing the dismal and dangerous mishandling of Military Intelligence and Special Forces Operations by the President and all his men.
Please watch this video which was recently released by a number of retired military leaders on behalf of the men and women who have risked their lives in Afghanistan–Navy Seal Team Six in particular–whose safety have been put at risk by the man in the White House who is willing to leak sensitive information in order to further aggrandize his already bloated and noxious self-love.
