Crucifixion Diary

Posted by in Christian Teachings, Easter, Religion

They would not stay awake! My friends could not even watch and pray with me. I am alone in this intercessory prayer, save for the momentary comfort of an Angel, which strengthened me only enough to bear up under this weight. For the load of my suffering is not lighter but has increased beyond understanding.

There is No Right to Marriage…for Anyone

Posted by in Christian Teachings, Civil Rights, Culture

God Himself was so offended by theocracy that He inspired the nation ruled, not by a single religion, but by secular law. The First Amendment bars the establishment of a state religion. Has homosexuality effectively become a state religion, where non-believers are punished and coerced by threats, fines, and imprisonment, to convert?

What really empowers a woman?

Posted by in Christian Teachings, Family, Mothers

God has endowed me with the privilege of having four amazing, bright, loving–and a little rebellious–people in my life who call me “Mom.”

Darkness of War, Light of Christmas

Posted by in Christian Teachings, Christmas, Vietnam War

Jesus is the reason for the season, and no government or contentious secularist can take that from us. Merry Christmas, my wonderful brothers, sisters, and children everywhere! May our Lord God Jesus Christ be with you all the days of your lives, and beyond!

Avenging 9/11

Posted by in Christian Teachings, History, Morality

It’s not necessary for a person to know everything about the people around them. It’s not necessary to have luck on your side. It’s not necessary to be able to read the intentions of people. For, when a person employs a set of good principles, such as personal chastity and the pursuit of wholesome recreation, he is protected from the unknown and the unintended.

Dirty Christians, Dirty Fights

Posted by in Christian Teachings, Mormonism

I sometimes think that Christians are crippled with fear. Their crippling phobia is not fear of death, or fear of speaking the Word of God, but rather a fear of being polluted by non-Christians, or by other Christians whose doctrines differ from their own.

Vietnam: War Abroad, Skirmishes at Home

Posted by in Christian Teachings, Veterans, Vietnam War

He jabbed his finger into our mutual acquaintance’s chest and said loudly, “Why don’t you just shut up! At least he’s got the guts to do something about what he believes in! What’s your cause, Fats, besides ruining people’s evenings?”

When was Jesus Really Born?

Posted by in Christian Teachings, Christmas, Religion

The tradition of Christmas in December has powerful meaning, however, and in the Northern Hemisphere where cold grips the world; fog, ice, and darkness have become powerful symbols of the fate that would befall Creation if the Savior never was.
