The legacy of Gerald R. Ford transcends the succession of political trends and social revolutions, and will live forever in the bloodlines of rescued children who comprise the roots of a new American family tree that will grow and flower for untold generations to come. There is no price that can be put on a legacy that made life possible where otherwise death would have been inevitable.
The words “Operation Babylift” had a muted familiarity to me. I was 13 years old at the time the United States Military was forced by the 94th Congress to pull out of Southeast Asia. But my interest grew and Bob described to me an event which would come to be known as one of the greatest humanitarian efforts of the 20th Century.
During his relatively short time in office, President Ford signed an executive order actually reversing 94 executive orders that had been signed by previous presidents.
